A social worker and project director of Kayakalpa, Dr Seema has for many years been instrumental in rehabilitation of sections of the society. She has worked from 1980 to 1992 with Alert India for the cause of Lepers and their reintegration into the society. She has organised HIV/AIDS programs and seminars to generate awareness, benefiting around 100000 people by her work. For the last many years, she has been empowering commercial sex workers residing in Budhwar Peth, Pune. Through the services of Haribhau Waghmode Patil Pratishan, the commercial sex workers are regularly provided with health services, condom distribution, referral and linkages to hospitals.
